Remembering Maidan (2014)

Rising tensions culminated in a series of murderous protests in the Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square), Kiev, Ukraine in February of this year. With over one hundred dead and with many more missing, the violent events have given new meaning to the physical space of the Maidan for both the protesters who had fought and the mourners who had lost loved ones.

In 2014, Davide Monteleone traveled to the Maidan in Kiev to document the quotidian iconography remaining after the revolution.
